So I went and saw this in theaters and since I write movie reviews I had to write about this one. Seth Rogen really takes the cake in this one for the fact of becoming a complete beast.
Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the son of a man who owns and runs a media-empire. The father dies of an unfortunate bee sting and the entire media-empire is handed to Britt to run. Britt is completely not ready for this sort of thing because his daily life is nothing but partying and getting drunk as no other. When all this happens Britt meets Kato (Jay Chou), which is the person who works on his fathers cars and makes Britt's coffee in the morning. So far from watching the movie I am entralled and can't look away. The movie is not only a pretty good action movie, but also has quite a few comical scenes and moments in the movie.
This movie is a good one that should be seen before it leaves theaters and dollar theaters alike. I am more than looking forward to buying this on DVD and watching it again and again at my house. 10 out of 10 from Luis Jargens.
Movies are my life so I started this blog to review movies I've seen in my lifetime and new movies I see in theaters.

Constantine
This movie is, like I say about all the movies I review, is a personal favorite. It was originally a comic book series published by Vertigo. I have read some of the comics before and they are very cool. It stars Keanu Reeves and is full of awesome fight scenes.
Constantine is sort of like an exorcist. It starts off as him pulling a soldier demon out of this little latino girl. He tries different holy symbols on her to see which one effects her and uses a mirror to trap the demon and throw it out of a window. The only reason he is doing this sort of work is because he committed suicide as a younger man and was sent to hell. Now he is trying his "hardest" to buy his way into heaven. As the story unfolds more, it shows the ruins of a church in Mexico where this two men are foraging around for random stuff and one of the falls through old floor planks and finds a Nazi flag wrapped around the end of a spear-tip. The spear happens to be the Spear of Longinus which is the spear that pierced and killed Jesus. The spear takes over the latino man and forces him to go to America to more or less find Constantine.
This movie has never ceased to amaze me every time I watch it and I continue to watch it constantly. 10 out of 10 and 2 thumbs up from Luis Jargens.

Horror Movies Reviewed
Horror films date back as far as the late 1890's with notable films as 1896 Le Manoir du diable ("The House of the Devil") which is sometimes credited as being the first horror film. Today horror movies are as big as any other genre out there. Modern titles such as the Saw series or remakes of older classics such as My Bloody Valentine. With such a long and movie packed history it can be hard to determine what film is will be worth watching and which movie is going to be a grade A flop.
Online Information

Now a days you find a lot of movies on store shelves that amount to slashing and screaming, don't get me wrong I do enjoy a good slasher from time to time but it can feel like a lot of these films lack the story I want to get into. Checking out some of the horror movies forum can lead you to some of those smaller movies that don't get the kind of coverage the better marketed films get. These are the truly golden horror movies that no buff could live without seeing.

District 9
District 9 was one of those mind blowing films that got over shadowed by more marketed films. District 9 a film from the South African director Neill Blomkamp brings us to Johnannesburg year 2000, twenty years after an alien craft has stalled in the sky over the city. Once forces open the craft they find the inhabitants inside living in horrible conditions. The extraterrestrials are removed from their craft and placed into a concentration camp, District 9. District 9 is a shanty town filled with the human named prawns -A darogatory term used as slang because of their vaguely crustacean appearance-, this is where the story unfolds.
I didn't have big hopes for District 9. I figured, yeah big guns, CGI crab people, this is going to be like Lake Placid and I'm going to be really let down but I was very far off the mark. This movie is all about the story. The characters are fantastic, the prawns, the gangs, and the main character. This was an emotional roller coaster, complete with highs and lows. You build a connection with the sad lost prawns and even a connection with the over eager ignorant main character Wikus.
Wikus means well, at least well for himself and his family. During the film you hate Wikus, his ignorance and uncaring nature for the obviously abused prawns sicken but this soon takes a wild change. District 9 throws you a curve ball from way out in left field. The entire story shifts and you are pulled with it.
District 9 is on my top twenty list of must see movies. It isn't often I am so impressed by a film but District 9 had its cake and ate it too. Complete with a potentially dark ending leaving you wanting more and more of this movie.

Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead
George A. Romero did a good job at making Dawn of the Dead but in my own personal opinion Zack Snyder has taken this first rate story, dusted the cobwebs off and made it new again. The remake has always appealed to me. The sights, sounds, and story all hit me in that soft warm gooey center I have from zombies of all kinds.
During the film you may notice that the zombies decay over time. If you compare the infected in the beginning of the film to the shambling corpses at the end, you can really notice the time and effort put into the living dead. Faces start to decay and become gaunt, limbs become weak, the clothing is soaked in dried blood. Zack Snyder also used people with handicaps such as missing limbs to add effect to his film. These characters were used as infected whose limbs were also missing. This plus crochet mallet handle through the lower jaw out the top of a fake head bring the feeling of survival home. Horror is also lurking around the shopping mall, (Warning Small Spoiler) the birth of an abomination takes place and its screams give me goose bumps, brrrrrgh.
The movie has sounds from Johnny Cash and Richard Cheese's band Lean Against the Machine. Deeply moving by Johnny Cash and yet still keeping a good sense of humor with Richard Cheese. This film is what introduced me to Lean Against the Machine. There is a scene in the movie where the survives are on top of the mall roof playing a little zombie killing game where one survivors tells a sniper to find and kill famous individuals in the zombie crowd outside the mall. Even at the worst of times you can still find something to laugh at, oooh Mr. Leno.
I have to say, I've watched this movie more times then I can count and I still can't get enough. From beginning to end this is one of my favorite stories. Only the strongest survive and this is how the story goes.

Kung Fu Hustle
Normally I don't watch foreign films to terribly often, but this particular one has become a favorite of mine. Kung Fu Hustle is hilarious yet a touching story about a man trying to figure out his life.
Starting at a police station somewhere in Asia, The Crocodile Gang is harassing the police into not making a lady that the leader likes have to pay a fine for spitting. After beating up the police, the gang leaves and are than confronted by the notorious and deadly Axe Gang. They are slaughter and the movie goes into a montage showing pictures of the Axe Gangs crazy killings and actions. It'll than lead into a very poor apt. complex that houses many different people and this dumb man who thinks he can be a part of the Axe Gang by imitating them. He is a good man at heart but tries to be bad because he thinks that is the only thing he can do cause "good guys never win".
This movie is serious at some parts yet many parts it is a comedy at heart. Lots of awesome kung fu action and ridiculous fight scenes with interesting characters and story lines. Another 2 thumbs up from Luis Jargens.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
For those of you who haven't seen this movie need to. Hunter S. Thompson was an incredibly famous writer who invented Gonzo Journalism and wrote many books that have been recognized by many people. The movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is an adaptation to his book of the same title.
Hunter and his "attorney" Oscar Acosta which in the movie is referred as "Dr. Gonzo" go to Las Vegas to write about the "Fabulous Mint 400", a motorcycle race across the desert. It starts as him and Dr. Gonzo driving down a highway towards the city and just the beginning sucked me in. They are in this car and they are on different assortment of drugs and I quote ""...two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers [...] and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls." And from this point the movie just progressively gets more and more insane and ridiculous.
Through the rest of the movie the two get into a many different assortment of shenanigans and trouble. From the use of drugs and the crazy adventures of the two this movie is a cult classic and always favorite of mine.

Fight Club
This has to be one of my favorite movies of all time. A cult classic movie that will have your head spinning at the end with twists and turns. Based off the book Fight Club by Chuck Palahnuik which is also a very good book.
The Narrator (which is what he is referred by) has a very pitiful life with a dead-end job at an insurance agency and goes and does damage statistics. He has insomnia and doesn't ever sleep which begins to get to him after 6 months. He tries going to a doctor to get sleep medicine but the doctor will not let him have a prescription. The doctor later tells him to go to Remaining Men Together: a testicular cancer survivors group. This is where the movie begins stepping up the pace. After the meeting he falls asleep like a baby. He becomes addicted to them and continues to go to random meetings to diseases and problems he doesn't have until Marla Singer begins coming to them. This messes up his sleeping and he than finally confronts her about it and she outwits him making him feel stupid. When I first watched this by this part I am completely entranced by the movie and can't stop watching it. While on a business trip for the company he works for he meets a man named Tyler Durden. This man is smart, capable, and a total beast.
Altogether this movie is amazing. A cult classic film that has probably been watched by just about everyone. 10 out of 10 and 2 thumbs up from Luis Jargens.
